A night of musical fireworks brings celebrated pianist Garrick Ohlsson back to the ASO to perform "Rach Three." Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 is one of the most technically challenging works for piano in the classical repertoire. It is feared and revered by many a pianist, but Garrick Ohlsson has performed it numerous times, including a 2011 recording made with Music Director Robert Spano and the ASO. The evening begins with Rimsky-Korsakov's most popular piece, Scheherazade, a timeless work of dazzling orchestral color based on the classic collection of Middle Eastern folktales, Arabian Nights.
