Additional Information

Robert Spano opens his 20th and final season as Music Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with an exciting mix of classic and contemporary music. Grammy® Award-winning violinist Gil Shaham joins the ASO for the first time since 2013 to perform Korngold's Violin Concerto, a cinematic display of instrumental acrobatics echoing the swashbuckling film scores of Korngold's work in Hollywood. The concert begins with Texas-born Christopher Theofanidis' exuberant Rainbow Body, which Spano premiered in 2000 with the Houston Symphony Orchestra; the evening closes with Sibelius' Second Symphony, a bold and majestic display of the Finnish composer's early compositional prowess.
