Additional Information

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra celebrates the indelible legacy of Music Director Robert Spano at the 2020 ASO Gala with special guest, pianist Daniil Trifonov – a Grammy® winner and Musical America's 2019 Artist of the Year. Trifonov will perform Sergei Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a virtuosic reworking of Niccolò Paganini's Caprice No. 24. The evening opens with Leonard Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Bernstein assembled the dance numbers from his classic musical into a stand-alone symphonic work with all the urban edginess and rhythmic fireworks of the original. Today, the piece is nearly as iconic as the songs that stole the original show.
